ICA is pleased to present this limited edition print by New York artist Roe Ethridge. This image was shot as the cover for the Spring 2012 fashion issue of Dazed and Confused and has been published in an edition of 25 exclusively for the ICA.
Ethridge, one of today’s most sought after commercial photographers, combines editorial commissions with personal photographs, ignoring the conceits that divide photography into fine art and commercial work. Borrowed images already in circulation co-exist with his own commercial outtakes, such as an image of a still life of mouldy fruit, previously published in Vice magazine alongside a catwalk shot from a Chanel fashion show grabbed from The New York Times; and an image of a pumpkin that is a magnified close-up of a sticker.
Produced in a limited edition of 25 prints, this striking image presents an exceptional opportunity to collect the work of an internationally recognised artist, with all proceeds supporting the ICA's future programmes.
With special thanks to the artist and Cornelia Grassi.
Born in 1969 in Miami, Ethridge now lives and works in New York, NY. Recent solo exhibitions include: Shelter Island, Gladstone Gallery, Brussels, Belgium (2016); Double Bill (with Andy Harman and special guest Louise Parker), greengrassi, London, England (2015); Roe Ethridge: Sacrifice Your Body, Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York, NY (2014); Roe Ethridge: Sacrifice Your Body, Capitain Petzel, Berlin, Germany (2014); Roe Ethridge, Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills, CA (2013); and A Moveable Feast, Campo Presti, Paris, France (2013).
