Commissioned by Art on the Underground, Nina Wakeford's project explores two social worlds linked by one site the geographical area from Vauxhall down to Battersea Power Station, currently being redeveloped as Nine Elms on the South Bank. The first of these worlds The Market Tavern, which during the 1980s and '90s catered to both LGBT clubbers and Covent Garden Flower Market traders. The second world the TFL and civil engineering team currently building the tunnels of the Northern Line Extension, running under the area served by The Market Tavern and into the Kennington Loop of the Northern Line.
