Loris Gréaud's practice is characterised by a desire to fuse different fields of knowledge and activity, in a manner which is both futuristic and utopian. Orientated to ideas and processes rather than finished form, Gréaud's projects are liable to manifest themselves in different ways over time and to move between rumour and fact.
Cellar Door was an ambitious artistic experiment that had a range of manifestations. One was Gréaud's installation at the ICA; another was an exhibition at Palais de Tokyo and the third was an opera staged at the Paris Opera. The fourth was an actual studio space which Gréaud built for himself on the outskirts of Paris. The studio was fundamental to Cellar Door, operating as a symbol of imagination and potential, and as the starting point of a perpetual cycle of activity. This edition, a varnished screenprint on black plike archival paper, depicts a blueprint of the Cellar Door studio space.
