Multi-use tote created in collaboration with visionary design brand BLESS, based on the best-selling BLESS tote but reimagined in the RGB colours of ICA's visual identity, especially for the Institute.
The pattern sees the colours combined in a repeated grid to form a classic, rudimentary optical illusion. The tessellated ‘digital primary colours’ - red, green and blue - which are used to codify different aspects of the institute, are here tessellated, so that, from a distance, the fabric appears as a light grey backdrop, echoing the grey backdrop of our website. Up close, however, it can be seen to be comprised of all the ‘facets’ of the ICA, contextually placing the fabric as the interface between the digital and physical realms and the position that the ICA as an institution holds in these.
Only available through the ICA, the tote can be worn bi-folded on the shoulder and also as a backpack. Approximate measurements laid flat: 50cm(h) x 80cm (w). Approximate measurements folded: 50cm(h) x 40cm(w). Available in two patterns: grid of 2mm squares or grid of 3mm squares.
BLESS is not an average fashion label, it is a project that presents ideal and artistic values to the public through products. An interdisciplinary studio resting between product design, decorative art and fashion that seeks to generate a cohesive relationship between lifestyle and objects. They proceed from a challenge or set of conditions and offer material solutions that are practical, delightful, and frequently a little oblique.
