Ditto, 2019, Hardcover, 368 pages, 24 × 17 cm
Future Fantasy uses the archive of Vinca Petersen spanning the 1990s to tell the story of an adolescent growing up in a world of contradictions: the traditional expectations of beauty in the modelling industry contrasted with the anarchy and freedom of the illegal rave scene and Vinca’s choice to live on the road. Vinca was signed to IMG Models and worked around the world, and made the highly unusual decision to buy a truck and spend her life travelling with sound systems.
The book features unseen work by Corinne Day, a close friend of Vinca’s, along with archive material including flyers, letters and other ephemera.
The archive material has been made in to collages by Ben Freeman, the creative director of Ditto, and a member of the same social group familiar to Vinca through the nascent illegal rave scene in the 1990s.
Future Fantasy is reprinted for a second edition of 1150. It is printed on a variety of papers with special inks, inserts, a poster and a screen-printed cover.
