Benson’s edition for the ICA was created in parallel with the sculptural work Flag (Union Jack). Both the sculpture and silkscreen print reflect the artist's on-going fascination with the depiction of arrested motion and the use of digital tools during sculptural creation.

With both versions of Flag (Union Jack), 2013, Benson complicates the distinction between the flag as image and the flag as object. The rippled appearance of the Union Jack, suggesting a flying flag, was created within a computer animation programme, with the flat plane of the flag image treated as an object and subjected to simulated wind and turbulence. A still from the animation was used by Benson as both the pattern of a new sewn nylon flag, and as the source for this silkscreen print on paper.
