Francis Upritchard, A Beat, 2013
Digital pigment print with silkscreen and emboss
42 × 28 cm
Edition of 50 + 5APs, signed and numbered
Known primarily for her figurative sculpture, Upritchard’s work is keenly observant of human nature, treading the line between realism and fantasy. Both archetypal and decorative, Upritchard’s figures reference the hippy movement, but also medieval jesters and holy fools, ruminating on the unrealised vision of 1960s counterculture.
