Røros Tweed blanket
135 × 200cm
Edition of 80, in 10 different designs, signed and numbered
ICA is pleased to present this limited edition blanket, created by Bjarne Melgaard especially for the ICA to accompany the exhibition Bjarne Melgaard: A House to Die In (25 September – 18 November 2012).
This exhibition was the result of a close collaboration between Bjarne Melgaard and the internationally renowned architectural firm Snøhetta. Since 2011, Melgaard and Snøhetta have exchanged architectural drawings, models and documents as they work towards the realisation of a purpose-built house, where Melgaard will live and work in Oslo, Norway. The house was commissioned by the Selvaag family.
For the exhibition Bjarne Melgaard and Snøhetta designed a rug to cover the floor in both galleries based on drawings by Melgaard. The rug for the galleries in the ICA, which was also intended to become an interior feature in the house, was funded by the Selvaag family. It was produced by the traditional Norwegian manufacturer Røros Tweed.
This limited edition of 80 Røros blankets was created in the same colour with the same 10 distinct designs used for the floor rug at the ICA exhibition. Each blanket is signed and numbered by Bjarne Melgaard.
