ICA is pleased to present this limited edition cushion designed by Julie Verhoeven to accompany the Reading Room display Whiskers Between my Legs (9 December 2014– 18 January 2015).

For this exhibition, artist and designer Julie Verhoeven created an immersive installation that explores concepts of femininity and how they are represented in popular culture, both past and present.

Primarily known for her work as a fashion designer and illustrator, this display highlighted Verhoeven’s increasing interdisciplinary practice throughout the visual arts, from fashion illustration, to installation and film.

This special edition cushion is one of two designs – the other being Rainbow Rim – all of which are unique versions.

Julie Verhoeven was born in 1969 in Sevenoaks, Kent. Recent solo exhibitions include: Whiskers Between my Legs, ICA, London (2014); Your Fly is Open, Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertongensosch, The Netherlands (2013); and Ladies, Lets Rip!, The Holburne Museum, Bath, UK (2013).
